Why should we book you?
I've been a wedding photographer since 2008, and in that time I've shot well over 200 weddings, with locations from bright sunshine in Kefalonia in August, to dark castles in Cornwall in October, and pretty much everything in between. I've shot weddings ranging in size from just 8 people to over 350. From just 3 hours for a London elopement to a 3 day event, and from traditional Church to Sikh temple to outdoor progressive Jewish to humanist hand-fasting ceremonies. So, I have plenty of experience shooting weddings!
The most important reason to book me is because you love my photos - but it's definitely not the only reason! On your wedding day, you're going to spend more time with your photographer than probably any other person, from the getting ready in the morning to the portraits and family photos, to the speeches and the first dance, I'll be there, in the background, committing your memories to film. It's so important to me, therefore, that we're a good fit. I am so very, very fortunate that I attract couples that are laid-back, that want their day to be about everyone having a great time, that want me to be laid-back and fit in with their day seamlessly. I am so fortunate that I feel, on the day and afterwards, that I'm more of a friend with a camera than someone hired to do a job - that feeling comes from me to a certain extent, but it comes mostly from my lovely couples who make me feel that way. So, book me because you love my work, but more than that, because you get a sense that we're a good fit.
How do you work on the day?
The thing that I get asked most often on a wedding day is "So, how do you know the couple?" - guests are always surprised that I'm not a friend, I'm relaxed and chatting with the guests, all the time keeping my camera in my hand, recording all those tiny moments that make up your story. I read once that "a photographer you're comfortable with standing 2 feet from you will always be more welcome than one you're wary of standing 10 feet away", and I truly believe that to be the case. My job is to record a true and honest account of your day, and I can only do that by experiencing it with you. I will also happily lace up dresses, tie ties, fix veils, repair bouquets, rush out to find the best man some shoes as he's forgotten his, and even find rescue remedy at a local shop if nerves kick in (I have done all of these things on at least one occasion!)
Do you take family and group photos?
I do! Although I ask that these are kept to no more than a dozen group shots. Allow between 20 and 30 minutes for group portraits and about 30 minutes for bride and groom portraits on the day. The bride and groom portraits are an essential, in my opinion, so that we can create some beautiful images but also so that you get some quiet time alone with your new spouse.
I don’t want any posed photos.
I can understand this – you don't want to miss out on the party, and you want your photos to be all about the story of the day. But I can't stress enough just how much you'll cherish the time you take away from your guests on the day - just the two of you - and the photos that I'll capture of this special moment. The pre-wedding shoot is the very best preparation you'll have for this time, and I can't say enough how much my couples value their pre-wedding shoot. Of course, some people don't want any posed photos at all, and that's completely fine.
Do you shoot destination weddings?
Yes, I've shot in France, Italy, Greece, and Cyprus, and hope to add to that list. My destination wedding bucket list can be found here
How much do you charge for this?
European weddings are offered at a flat rate of £2250, including all travel and accommodation. Destination weddings outside of mainland Europe are charged at my standard rate plus expenses. Please contact me to discuss this in further detail and get a bespoke quotation
How soon should I book?
Generally bookings are taken between 12 and 18 months before your wedding day, but I have taken bookings for both a few weeks’ time and 2.5 time. I try not to book further than 24 months out, as products and services can change in that time. However, I can work with you on this.
Why don't you offer 6/8/10 hour packages?
I don't offer limited hours of coverage simply because I don't think this ever works well. Weddings are unpredictable, they almost always run late, and I don't ever want you to be checking your watch on your wedding day, wondering if I can stay a bit later to make sure I don't miss the speeches or the first dance. I offer a short day package which is around 7 hours, from getting ready until the the start of the meal, and full day (unlimited) coverage, so you never have to worry about time running out.
How many photos will I get?
I deliver a minimum of 500 images for a full day, but, like my coverage, this is unlimited - I've delivered over 1000 on occasion. You get the images in both colour and black and white.
If I book you, will it be you that photographs my wedding?
Yes! I do not outsource any weddings, and I only book one wedding per day, and a maximum of two weddings per week. This ensures that I am able to give you the very best service on your day.
How soon do we get to choose our wedding photos?
Your wedding photos will be on your online gallery, ready for you to download and share, within 3 weeks - often sooner.
What’s in your bag?
My main camera, my third baby, is my Nikon D800. I also have a Nikon D700, and an amazing Holdfast camera strap that allows me to wear both cameras (while looking pretty badass!) I have a wide variety of Nikon lenses, and I primarily shoot with the 35mm and 85mm primes which are by far my favourite lenses for wedding photography.
Do you shoot film at all?
I do, for fun, but at the moment I do not shoot film professionally.
What other equipment do you use?
I’m a PC girl! I run lightroom and use Alien Skin Exposure for the perfect finish to my images. I also have a Microsoft Surface and an android phone which is like my mobile office.
Are my images safe with you?
My background, before I became a photographer, was in IT Security. So, yes, your images are safe!
Do you have insurance?
I have public liability insurance, indemnity insurance and insurance for all of my equipment. I also have travel insurance for those destination weddings.
How long have you been a photographer?
I remember, as a teenager, taking photos of my friends Jo and Mark in the park, getting them to pose for me while I shot away with black and white film. Then the excitement when they were developed, opening that envelope was like Christmas Day! So I’ve always enjoyed taking photos. When I had children, my enjoyment doubled and, a in 2008, I undertook a photo-a-day challenge which really fired up my passion. Within 6 months, I was invited to second shoot a wedding, and I finally discovered what I wanted to be when I grew up!
