I didn't meet with Joanne and Paul before they booked me, but we met for a coffee a few weeks before their pre-wedding shoot, and I quickly realised how important music is to these two - and on their wedding day, it would play a big part in their day - and the music throughout their ceremony (including one of my favourite Smiths songs during the signing of the register), their meal and their evening party.
I met Jo at the Zetter Townhouse on the morning of her wedding, where she was getting ready with her 3 closest friends, and the atmosphere was chilled out, fun and full of laughter. Jo is completely gorgeous, and her choice of a relaxed 60s/70s hairstyle complemeted her Daalarna Couture dress perfectly, timeless and elegant, with a hint of 60s Italian starlet about it!
Jo and Paul got married at St James' Church in Clerkenwell, a church that I've photographed at before, and I love that the vicar, Andrew, is so warm and relaxed, and really appreciates that the couple want photos of their ceremony, so I was able to get some lovely moments captured here.
Gin from The Travelling Gin Company straight after the ceremony put everyone in a festive mood before the red Routemaster bus took them over to the Savile Club. The Savile Club is one of my favourite London venues, it's elegant without being fussy or too formal, the rooms are beautiful but never intimidating, and having the downstairs area to move into after the meal really distinguishes daytime formalities from evening party.
It was such fun to photograph Jo and Paul's wedding, and receiving this from Jo just made my day:
